Concert 2 : Love Giveth and Love Taketh Away

Guest conductor : d’Alexander Weimann, harpsichord

Solist : Nathalie Paulin, soprano

Poets and composers have long delved into love and its disappointments. The Italians of the baroque, such as Porpora, and their emulators, such as Handel, found in opera and its offshoots an ideal medium by which to explore all of love’s mysteries. The “magnetic force” of the “spellbinding” soprano Nathalie Paulin, supported by Arion and the inspired director and harpsichordist Alexander Weimann, will bring to life in music the various joys and vicissitudes of love.
