Flutists Claire Guimond and Alexa Raine-Wright walk you through the tumultuous music of C.P.E. Bach and W.F. Bach as well as the graceful and light melodies of French composer J.M. Leclair.

Alexa Raine-Wright, flutist

In 2006, Alexa won 1st prize in the 2006 Minnetonka Young Artist Competition.  She also placed 1st in the 2007 Competition for Young Recorder Players hosted by the Renaissance ensemble Piffaro.

Alexa is a very active performer in Montreal.  She has been a member of the recorder quintet Flûte Alors! since 2007.  In addition to frequent performances in the Montreal area, the ensemble won 1st place in the chamber music division of the 2009 Federation of Canadian Music Festivals Competition and released their first album, Kaleidoscope, in May 2011.  Alexa is also a founding member of the ensemble Recordare, which was awarded 2nd place in the 2011 Festival de Musique Classique de Pierre-De Saurel chamber music competition.  

Alexa holds a Bachelor’s degree in recorder performance from McGill University in Montreal.  She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in baroque flute at McGill.
