Arion Baroque Orchestra announces a major pan-canadian tour in the 2016 summer
Arion is pleased to announce a four-concert tour across Canada this summer, taking the orchestra from the Acadian Peninsula to Vancouver Island. Eight world-renowned singers and Arion Baroque Orchestra, under the fervent direction of Alexander Weimann, will perform one of the pinnacles of Western art, J.S. Bach’s breathtaking and profound Mass in B Minor. Lamèque’s representation is already sold-out!
The eight vocal soloists will also sing the masterwork’s choral numbers.
Yulia van Doren, soprano
Shannon Mercer, soprano
Laura Pudwell, mezzo-soprano
Krisztina Szabó, mezzo-soprano
Charles Daniels, tenor
Philippe Gagné, tenor
Sumner Thompson, baritone
Christian Immler, baritone
“Arion Baroque Orchestra’s upcoming Canadian tour promises to round off our 35th season in grand fashion,” says Artistic Director Claire Guimond. “Bach’s Mass in B Minor certainly rates as one of the greatest works in the entire repertory, and is an ideal vehicle for bringing together listeners and performers, which is, after all, Arion’s artistic goal. What’s more, this tour is a wonderful occasion to forge relationships with important Canadian music festivals as well as making Arion’s unique character better known across the country.”
