The President of Société Générale for Canada, Pierre Matuszewski, elected President of Arion’s Executive Board

Arion’s Executive Board

     Montréal, Thurdsay, October 14, 2010 –“It is a great honour to welcome Mr. Pierre Matuszewski as the new President of Arion’s Executive Board. His leadership and his involvement in the Canadian cultural scene make him the perfect candidate to become Arion’s president», as Claire Guimond, the ensemble’s Artistic Director enthusiastically stated.

 

 

At Arion Baroque Orchestra’s annual assembly last October 12, the members unanimously endorsed the nomination of Mr. Matuszewski to head the 13 members Executive Board. Retiring president, Cafa Financement Corporatif Associate André Scott, expressed his confidence in the Orchestra’s continued growth. “Mr. Matuszewski’s experience and charisma will most certainly enable Arion to broaden its national and international scope”, added Mr. Scott.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I join Arion’s Board, as the new President. Arion is internationally recognized as an orchestra of high standing and I am proud to be able to contribute to its growth and development”, announced Mr. Matuszewski.

 

About Pierre Matuszewski

President of Société Générale for Canada

Pierre Matuszewski has more than 30 years experience in investment banking in Canada.

He joined Société Générale in February 1997 as Mergers and Acquisitions Director after many years experience in major Canadian banks. He later was in charge of major client relations at Société Générale. Since January 1, 2009, he is the first Canadian to be President of the Société Générale for Canada. His great involvement in Montreal’s business and arts communities is reflected by his memberships on the boards of Théâtre Espace Go (1990-1999) and of the chamber orchestra I Musici de Montréal (1996-1998). M. Matuszewski has also been President of the Club Universitaire de Montréal (2004-2006) and he was also president of the Arion’s Fundraising Campaign (2010).

M. Matuszewski holds an M.B.A. from McGill University as well as a B.A. (with distinction) in economics from Université Laval.

Société Générale has been present in Canada since 1974. Its headquarters are located in Montreal.

About Arion Orchestre Baroque

Founded in 1981, Arion Orchestre Baroque is the only early music orchestra using period instruments in Québec and is also a leader in this field in North America. Led by the clear-sighted artistic vision of flutist Claire Guimond, the group performs some thirty concerts on national and international stages each year with the participation of some twenty passionate musicians and renowned guest conductors.
