Secretary

Martine Guimond is a partner in Gowlings' Montréal office, specializing in business law, with a particular emphasis on securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law. In 1990, Martine joined the Brussels office of Lafleur Brown, Gowlings’ predecessor firm after having worked for the Commission of the European Union.  She has worked in the Montreal office since 1994. 

Her practice in the securities sector has led her to act for corporate, governmental and municipal issuers and investment dealer firms with respect to public and private offerings. Martine also deals with corporate governance for public corporations as well as registration and compliance. In addition, she offers training to compliance officers, branch managers, mutual funds and insurance representatives. 

Martine acts as a director of Mavrix Fund Management Inc. listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and is a member of its Audit Committee. She is also vice-president of the board of the Québec Investment Funds Council, the Québec division of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.  Martine is a director of Branchez-vous! inc., a leading Montréal-based Internet media corporation listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (BZV). She is also a secretary of Branchez-vous! and a member of its Audit Committee and Nominating, Compensation and Governance Committee.  She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Quebec Women in Finance and presides over its Membership Committee.

Ms. Guimond also sits on the Board of Directors of the Arion Baroque Orchestra and its governance committee; in addition she is a member of the Board of Directors of the Arion Foundation.  She is also President of Gowlings Montréal’s Student and Articling Program.
