Jimin Dobson

Violin - Canada

Violinist and Violist Jimin Dobson started her musical studies at the age of six at le Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg, where she spent a good part of her childhood traveling through Western Europe with her family. From the age of ten, she grew as a musician in Toronto at the Royal Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Canadian Violinist Erika Raum.

Since discovering the Baroque Violin as a freshman at the Cleveland Institute of Music with the esteemed Early Music faculty at the Case Western Reserve University, Jimin has been pursuing her passion for performing on gut strings through numerous programs and summer festivals such as the International Baroque Institute at Longy, the American Bach Soloists Academy, Berwick Academy of the Oregon Bach Festival, Early Music Vancouver, and Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute. She has appeared on many professional stages throughout her training years, including with Apollo’s Fire and as guest concertmaster of the San Francisco Bach Choir Orchestra.

Jimin has been a founding member of Toronto’s Cor Unum Ensemble and has lead the group in performances of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, among various other works. Since relocating to Montreal, Jimin has become a new member of Arion Orchestre Baroque and continues to perform with numerous Early Music ensembles in Montreal.
